To Catch a Leprechaun

We have never really done anything for St. Patrick's Day other than making sure to wear green. This year in my Family Fun magazine there was an article about making your own Leprechaun Traps. It explained how these pesky creatures are hard to capture but if you do, they have to tell you where all of their gold is. And if you don't catch one then they usually leave a present behind. Also my friend Jo Dee always has some cute idea that she usually does for her kids on different occasions. So I thought we'd give it a try. I was surprised how excited both of the kids were about it and I could see Makayla's mind turning it's wheels about the best way to catch a Leprechaun. I told her that they were pesky and a little naughty and she thought that was pretty funny. After dinner we got down to business. We started with a shoebox and covered it with green paper (after all, green is a Leprechaun's favorite color). We set it upright so that we could put a trap door at the top with what appeared to be gold coins. And Daddy even got to help out and made a rainbow to go with the gold. Daddy and Dylan made steps out of Dylan's new green blocks. And finally Makayla made a sign that warned to keep away from the gold. (Leprechauns don't like to listen. Hey now that I think about it they are sounding more and more like my kids!) We decided to set it up in the living room so that we could check it in the morning. I will let you know if we catch one..... to be continued........
