They're Finally Home!

At least for a week. Makayla and Dylan made it home today from spending a week with Grandma and Grumpa by the Ocean. They had a GREAT time and spent lots of time on the beach. I was surprised that they didn't come home with loads of shells like usual. The love that they both get to drive the jeep on the beach and this has become such a special treat for them. It is something that they only get to do with Grumpa and only on the beach. I love that they will always have that special memory. Makayla loves it when Grumpa makes his "homemade" clam chowder and eats it all up claiming that it is the best in the world(it is out of a can but they put it in a bowl before she sees it). Dylan LOVES the dunes, the bigger the better. This time when they spent time with Great Grandma (she is 101) she told them stories of when she was 2. They are such lucky kids that they get to have these special times with their grandparents. When Tom and I picked them up they were very happy to see us though and that always makes parents feel special too!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIA!

I have blogged quite a few times about this incredible little girl that I have had the pleasure knowing. She has only been in my life for a little over a year but boy has she made a big impact on my life. Not to mention all those around her and those she has never even met. Mia is turning 1 years old today! I am so excited for her and her whole family! What a year it has been. This little girl has been through more trials than most adults do in a lifetime. And she is just to adorable! So HAPPY BIRTHDAY MISS MIA! May you have many many more happiness to come!

And they're off

So we picked Makayla up on Saturday, did her laundry, packed her up and shipped her off again. We drove down to Woodburn (just south of Portland) on Sunday to meet Tom's Dad and Step-Mom so that they kids can spend a week with them on the coast. They were both excited. Dylan wanted to go riding on the dunes and Makayla wanted to go find shells. They always have a great time down there. And what am I going to do with a week without kids? Hmmmm, we'll see......

Camp Seymour

The Sunday we were coming home from our trip Makayla and 2 of her friends got to go to Camp Seymour for the whole week. The girls were sooooo excited when they were dropped off. We picked them both up on 4th of July morning. Makayla's favorite parts were canoeing, scrap booking and swimming. She got a letter from her camp counselor that said that she was very polite and was really good at helping others out and that she was "wonderfully sensitive"! I was so proud of her for doing such a great job. We sent the girls with a camera to take lots of pictures so I will post those when I get them downloaded. We got each of them a disposable digital camera and before they left Makayla took a picture of me so that I could show her how to use it. When I picked her up she said that her batteries had died because she kept looking at the picture she took of me. Awwww, how sweet. Both girls are already planning they trip there next year.
